Fritton Lake Triathlon 29th/30th May
This year nearly 450 athletes took part in one of the races at the Fritton Lake Triathlon festival. Support and free beer for the competitors was provided by Adnams Fritton House Hotel, which also served as a back drop to the transition and the finish line. Despite the steady rain, competitors and their families and friends were also able to enjoy the attractions provided by Fritton Lake Country park. Active Outdoor Sport who organise the event was able to make contributions totalling £2,000 to children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent as well as several several local clubs and organisations.
The first race of the weekend was the Super Sprint with 94 athletes tackling the course of 400m/ 14km/ 2.5km. Sixteen year old Dominic Lee from the Gt Yarmouth Cycle Club provided local interest finishing in 7th place with solid performances in all 3 disciplines.
The Sprint distance race of 750m/ 20km/ 5km was heavily contested with 144 starters.
